Kenleigh Nicoletta to speak at Maine Tax Forum
B&I Partnered Planning Attorney Kenleigh Nicoletta will speak at the Maine Tax Forum presented by SCORE on November 8, 2018 in Augusta, Maine. The Maine Tax Forum is a two-day program for experienced professionals providing tax advice to clients, especially regarding complex tax situations. Kenleigh’s presentation will focus on estate planning after the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act substantially increased the federal estate tax exemption for the next eight years, but that does not mean that estate planning in Maine is no longer driven, at least in part, by tax considerations. Kenleigh will discuss the changes the TCJA makes to federal gift, estate, and generation-skipping transfer tax laws, and how estate planning is affected by these changes. She will also address the current state of Maine estate tax laws, and how to plan under the two different tax regimes.
